Why consider it

  • WECK lists a glass jar and glass lid, sealed with a natural rubber ring and held by metal clamps.
  • Each set includes three jars, three glass lids, three rings and six clamps; each jar holds 35.9 fluid ounces.
  • WECK lists the jars and glass lids as dishwasher and microwave safe, and sells spare rings in bags of six.
  • WECK says its jars are made in Germany.

Practical tradeoffs

  • A storage jar, not a carry bottle: WECK says only water-bath canning makes the seal airtight.
  • Rings and clamps are hand-wash only; the natural rubber rings stretch with oils and can dry-rot from dishwasher detergent.
  • Glass can break: WECK advises against temperature differences over 122°F, and juice jars are not on its freezer-safe list.
  • Shipping from the WECK Jars site is extra and limited to the 48 contiguous states.
  • The rings are natural rubber, so anyone with a latex allergy should check with their allergist first.

Our assessment

This is a manufacturer-document review, not a use test. We checked the 766 one-liter Juice Jar, sold in sets of three by WECK’s US importer.

For drinks kept at home, it answers the closure question simply: the jar and lid are glass, and the seal is a natural rubber ring. It is a storage jar, and WECK says only water-bath canning makes the seal airtight, so it is not a bottle for a bag.

No study we found has measured particle release from these jars or rings. A jug or bottle you already own and like is a fine place to stop.
