RSVP Endurance Conical Mesh Strainer, 4 or 4.75 Inch

A small all-stainless mesh strainer for pouring boiled water off the scale.

Source-reviewed $ · indicative price band Reviewed

Price & availability: RSVP lists $8.50 for the 4-inch (STR-35) and $10.50 for the 4.75-inch (STR-47) on September 26, 2026; retail prices vary.

Why consider it

  • RSVP says the strainer is made of 18-8 stainless steel, with a polished rim and handle.
  • RSVP describes the mesh as extra fine and lists tea among its uses.
  • Dishwasher safe, according to RSVP.

Practical tradeoffs

  • RSVP gives no mesh size, and the strainer has not been tested on particles trapped in scale.
  • At 4 or 4.75 inches across, it suits a mug or a small pitcher.
  • It adds a step: pouring slowly through it, then rinsing it.

Our assessment

This is a manufacturer-document review, not a filtration test. The authors of a 2024 boiling study suggest pouring boiled water through a stainless steel filter, like a tea strainer, to hold back the scale that trapped their test particles. RSVP says this strainer is 18-8 stainless steel throughout.

It should catch the flakes you can see. We found no test of what it does for particles bound up in finer scale. Any all-steel tea strainer you already own does the same job.
