Why consider it

  • Presto lists stainless steel construction, including the filter basket and perk tube.
  • It brews 2 to 12 five-ounce cups at about a cup a minute, then keeps coffee hot automatically.
  • Presto sells replacement parts for the current model, including the perk tube and cover assembly.

Practical tradeoffs

  • Presto does not state what the cover knob, basket lid or perk-tube washer is made of.
  • Coffee stays hot as long as it is plugged in, so it has to be unplugged when the pot is finished.
  • Percolation cycles coffee through the grounds several times, which Presto says makes a more intense cup; drip drinkers may not like the style.
  • The base must not be immersed in water, and the warranty is one year.

Our assessment

This is a manufacturer-document review. We have not used this percolator.

It is the cheapest automatic route we found where the maker documents steel for the parts that do most of the work: the body, the filter basket and the perk tube. Plug it in and it brews, then keeps the pot hot until you unplug it. Presto’s instructions call for disposable paper filters.

The gaps are small parts. Presto does not say what the cover knob, the basket lid or the washer at the bottom of the perk tube is made of, so this is not a fully documented brew path. Percolated coffee is also a different style from drip, because the brew cycles through the grounds several times.

If you want every part documented, a glass pour-over is simpler. A percolator you already own is also fine to keep.
